If we knew what we were doing, it wouldn’t be called research. - Albert Einstein

And our quote by Albert Einstein is an excellent way to start off this week--aka "Lab Week"! Biology students are learning first hand how to science! Last week we built 3D models of monosaccharides and this week, we will test for them along with proteins, lipids, and polysaccharides. This is a two day lab that will transition to the students designing a meal plan on Thursday that meets all of the human body's nutritional requirements. Items tested in the lab included milk, egg whites, egg yolk, and apple juice just to name a few.

Physics students are continuing their exploration of motion in one dimension which started off with our Constant Velocity lab today and will continue tomorrow. This is a great lab to show students how velocity is really just the slope (remember the ol' equation y=mx + b) of a distance vs. time graph and an excellent reason to play with toy cars! Physics is great because you can find its application in so many everyday things including toys and none of us are too old to enjoy that!

Last Thursday's dance hosted by Student Council was a huge success and I am hoping we have even more students attend in the future. Our next event is planned for the week before Halloween. Thank you to all the parents who volunteered their time to clean up, we really appreciate it!

I just wanted to remind parents also about our Bighorn Bolt 5K, cosponsored by Student Council, Yearbook, and Honor Society. The deadline to signup is Thursday to guarantee a t-shirt. All of the proceeds go back to supporting our programs for our students and we do hope you will attend.

Have a knowledge filled week!
